The City of Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) was established in 1974 to encourage and support Atlanta’s cultural resources. The initial mission was to solidify the role that arts and other cultural resources play in defining and enhancing the social fabric and quality of life of Atlanta citizens and visitors.
Today the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs understands that the arts play an essential role in defining the cultural vitality of the city and is working to enhance Atlanta’s reputation as a cultural destination. The OCA aims to produce programs that contribute substantially to the city’s economy and quality of life.

PROJECT TYPE:

DESCRIPTION
- Design a translucent two-dimensional artwork on two sides of the new Zone 4 Public Safety building.
- While this is primarily a design project, the selected artist should expect to fine tune design and placement with printer and installer up to the installation of the artwork.

- Detailed measurements will be provided to the finalists prior to creating proposals.
PROJECT GOALS
- Add visual interest to the windows and the interior staircases of the building.
- Connect the new building to the community with thoughtful artwork that speaks to the surrounding neighborhoods.
BUDGET
- The top 3 artist qualifications will receive $1000.00 to develop a presentation and proposal for this project.
- The budget for this project is $35,000.00
- This is for the design of the artwork and required edits based on feedback from the community, the architect, the printer, and the Office of Cultural Affairs. Changes may be required up to print date. Commissioned artist may be asked to work with installer on final placement during installation.

PROJECT TYPE:
- Exterior Sculpture/Sign
DESCRIPTION
- Design, fabricate, and install a large, freestanding number 4 sculpture.
- Sculpture will act as signage for the Zone 4 public safety building and should prioritize readability.
- Artwork should include a pedestal and foundation to elevate the number 4 and protect it from damage.
- Pedestal will be part of the overall artwork and can include artistic details as well.
- Integrated lighting must be included in the design.

- Artwork should be a minimum of 10’ tall with pedestal, and a maximum of 15’ tall.
BUDGET
- The top 3 artists will receive $1000.00 to develop a presentation and proposal for this project.
- The budget for this project is $95,000.00.
- This is an all-inclusive budget and includes design, fabrication, transportation, installation, engineering, insurance, light fixtures, foundation and all other costs.
ELIGIBILITY
- Metro Atlanta sculptors, architects and designers who have completed projects of similar scope and size are eligible for this commission. Artists with community connections are encouraged to apply. This area includes the following counties: Cherokee, Fulton, Gwinnett, Dekalb, Rockdale, Henry, Clayton, Fayette, Douglas, and Cobb County.

PROJECT TYPE: Small Mural
DESCRIPTION:
The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Department of Parks and Recreation is commissioning a 42’L x 7’H mural on the upper stucco section of the west facing wall of the Washington Park Racquet Center. This wall is viewable from the Beltline’s Westside trail and starts 8’ above the center’s sidewalk.
